Workplace efficiency more than cutting carbs

May 3, 2004

In most businesses, a huge key to success is efficiency. This can be brought about in a variety of ways, including focusing on the task at hand, avoiding duplication of work and, above all, locking all workers in their offices so they cannot escape for home.

JavaScript can make your pages better

April 9, 2004

In the beginning, the Internet gods created hypertext markup language. This language, known to you and me as HTML, was pretty much the sole programming possibility in the earliest development stages of the World Wide Web.

Help wanted: Be on TV, or at least pretend

April 5, 2004

With the recent surge in reality television, I have decided to create my own

hit series called "The Communicator." I need someone to be in charge

of my phone decisions. So every time a telemarketer calls, urging me to move

my phone plan to another galaxy, I will transfer them directly to The Communicator.

At that point, I would hope the telemarketer would be told that I'm locked

into a contract until the year 2348, but that it was OK to call back after

that time.

News in space

March 1, 2004

It's amazing that we live in a time period when at any given moment, we could

find out that everything we previously knew about the universe was incorrect.

But so far, it's safe to say that Mars does exist, the sun is at the center

of our solar system and "Space Camp" really wasn't a very good movie.

If you haven't been following the news lately, or maybe you've been busy with

other things, like selling your belt buckles on eBay, let me go over some

of the recent astronomy highlights:

Looking for celebrities easier than contacting them

February 1, 2004

So the other day, I remembered I needed to contact Michelle Branch.

This seemed like a simple goal at the onset, but there were various problems: How would I go about actually doing this? What did I need to tell her? Who is she anyway?

'The Developers' flying off the shelves!

July 13, 2009

I haven't quite made the New York Times best-seller list just yet, but copies of "The Developers" are getting their places in the sky. I've secretly placed a few books on Southwest airplanes, so if you are flying Southwest anytime soon, make sure to check the seat pocket in front of you. Sorry, I didn't include any drink coupons!

New website lets you create your yearbook online

June 12, 2007

Building a yearbook can be an arduous task. In high school, clubs and/or classes compiled the yearly piece during months of development. Sometimes, however, it would be nice to create a simpler yearbook or possibly even just an individual book that you can share as a gift for friends or family members.

Help out the survivors of the tsunami

December 31, 2004

Google has set up a simple page to allow Internet users the ability to get involved with the cleanup and rebuilding of the areas affected by the recent tsunami. There are also links to information resources, including the Tsunami help blog.

The results are in: Bush, Gore lose to The Golf Channel

November 13, 2000

I have one simple request for Christmas -- that someone, ANYONE, will finally be named president. Yes, we have George W. and Al, but if they name Al W. George out of Minot, N.D., instead, that would be fine.

What caused this whole problem? The people of the United States, of course, always trying to stir up trouble, whether it's at the local moose lodge or bingo hall. Can't people fill in the correct circles? Can't people count votes right? Can't people use turning signals when changing lanes?

Chapter art, updates for 'Corporate Ties'

November 2, 2009

I'm still experiencing a bit of a holdup on releasing my new book, "Corporate Ties," for a number of reasons. The biggest, though, is that I want the book to be super awesome and not cause too many issues, which of course, is causing a delay. In the meantime, I've picked up a bit with the marketing side. I've enlisted two graphic designers to assist me with artwork for the book.
