Report shows amphibians in decline

October 17, 2004

I'm a big fan of frogs, and the reason is somewhat strange. I used to work at an amusement park, and I always seemed to be working at the game where you hit the rubber frog into a lily pad. The word got out that I actually lived in the pond, but that wasn't completely accurate; I just took a bath in it every once in awhile.

Find Halloween stuff online

October 15, 2004

If you're like me and wish that one night in October, you could find enough people to reconstruct Michael Jackson's "Thriller" video, you're in luck. No, I don't have email addresses for backup dancers, but I do have a website for your Halloween needs.

HauntedHouse.com contains a national haunted house directory, links for costumes, games and even virtual haunted houses. I've seen a couple of different house directories, but this one seems to contain a larger number than others.

Happy 1,000 visitor, whoever you are

October 12, 2004

Sometime on Oct. 12, the 1,000 unique person made it to my website. I wish I would have had sirens sounding, fireworks exploding and music playing, but I didn't. It was too much work to figure out the exact person anyway.

Now, the 1,000 unique person is a little deceiving. From the way the statistics are displayed, a user is unique every day. That means each day I check to make sure what I posted makes sense, it counts me again.

Time travelers hit the web

October 10, 2004

Recently I was in one of those click-and-conquer moods. You know, where you find something decent to read on a news website, then you see another link, which takes you to something else that looks pretty interesting.

GAC: How to deal with political emails

October 7, 2004

QUESTION

When receiving multiple political emails that you disagree with from a friend, you should tell the person to stop sending them?

NATE: NO

I do not have any friends who send me political e-mails. But, if I did have a friend who did that, I would probably just delete the messages without reading them. I wouldn

Do your friends REALLY know you?

November 9, 2003

If you're like me, you receive a large number of forwarded emails from friends;

many of them are funny, many are factually incorrect and many are just pointless.

Then again, if you are like me, you have worn an eye patch for the eighth consecutive

year at Halloween, but that's beside the point.

Another popular email forward are those in which people list a bunch of questions

about themselves. They might mention their favorite food, their middle name,

their favorite smell, anything that could help you understand who they are,

Take a vacation with my vocabulary lesson

July 30, 2001

I'm on vacation right now. I wasn't when I wrote this, but by the time you read it, I should be on the beach somewhere. Because I'm relaxing, I thought maybe you should relax a little too. Unfortunately, there wasn't any room left in the car for readers to go on vacation with me, so instead, your relaxation is going to be reading this.

Contest for new movie

October 25, 2009

I received an email recently about a new movie and a contest for a trip to New York. The new movie, "Fix" starring Olivia Wilde, seems like it could be pretty decent. It's based on a true story, centering around the director trying to bail his brother out of jail in a single day.

ILOVEYOU -- here are eight million e-mails

July 24, 2000

Maybe I'm in a small minority, but I'm still confused how so many people are duped every so often by an e-mail virus. Let's take this step by step:

A guy walks into his workspace at 7:30 a.m., preparing for another exciting day of whatever. He opens his inbox to find 50 e-mails -- 45 promising him to lose weight, financial freedom or cheap Viagra four from actual friends, probably chain letters and one other with a subject header of "Open repeatedly, this is not a virus," which of course is from virusdemon@viruscentral.com.

Holiday sweaters, just in time for Christmas

December 23, 2007

If you aren't happy with the selection of holiday sweaters that you have seen this year in the stores, you have a few options. One would be to just wear the same ridiculously tacky one that you wore last year. The other idea would be to make your own at We Hate Sheep. We Love Holiday Sweaters.. Make sure you accessorize as much as you can because the holidays come only once a year! You can also choose to window shop and peruse all of the previously made gorgeous sweaters. I'm wearing mine right now!
