On Sept. 14, The Free Standards Group announced the availability of Linux Standard Base (LSB) 2.0, an essential component for the long-term market success of Linux. The best part about it is that many major players who have Linux-based solutions, including IBM, Intel, Dell, and Hewlett-Packard, are endorsing LSB.

Every once in awhile, there's something I cannot find on the Internet. Usually it's either something to do with lists of people's credit card numbers or food, and this item is no exception.
Melissa, a somewhat concerned reader, wondered where a person could purchase a cake that could be jumped out of. I had mentioned a cake like this in a previous column, thinking it was funny, because it never actually happened. I guess I didn't understand at the time the repercussions this could have.
Since I put my site up in July, I've been keeping track of how many people visit, including what pages they view, how long they stay on the site, the color of their hair, etc. Looking at the web statistics report is pretty funny sometimes because you can also see what people searched on to get to your site.

According to the survey, only 39 percent of users knew what a Trojan was, 10 percent thought spyware was a computer program to check on cheating partners and 16 percent had never even heard of spam.
More than 10 years ago, if someone unleashed a computer virus, there was close to zero chance at catching the criminal. Five years ago, the cops might catch up with the hacker, eventually, after months or years of searching.

Paranormal Web sites seem to be fairly normal these days. Not that I'm completely surprised by this, but I was shocked to see the latest reports of phenomena. This is not meant to be for or against Michael Moore's controversial new film, "Fahrenheit 9/11," only an urging to see the movie. It seems to me that much of America has become complacent about their views of the country, even to the point of not really caring what is going on.
Now maybe some of you have a job where you just punch in and punch out and really don't care what's happening above you. Sometimes there's power in ignorance. I guess I just don't work like that.
