Friendster announces new features

November 13, 2005

If you haven't been to Friendster lately, it might be time to go back and check it out. Released in September, Friendster 2.0 appears to be not only leading the way with online social networking, but it may also be replacing Internet dating websites.

There are a fair amount of improvements with the new Friendster, including the following:

- FriendTracker: Real-time updates about your friends' information

- Customizable Profile: Ability to use HTML or CSS for your profile

Three new locations in three different states now carrying 'The Developers'

November 8, 2005

Borders stores in Champaign, Ill., Evansville, Ind., and Poor Richard's Books in Frankfort, Ky., are now selling "The Developers." Well, I should say I'm assuming they are selling the books, as long as the shipments made it there and they aren't sitting in the back of the store somewhere.

If you happen to live in one of these areas and are ready to read the book, here's the information you need:

Champaign (Ill.) Borders Bookstore

802 West Town Center Boulevard

Champaign, IL 61822

Phone:217.351.9011

It's official: not everything is on the web

November 7, 2005

Yes, you heard that right. Everything is not on the web. On top of that, I have actual proof that everything is not on the web. Check out notontheweb.com. The page is on the web, but it just goes to show that not everything is on the web. I realize this is a bit of logic problem, but just deal with it!

Emoticons give deeper meaning to 'The Developers'

November 5, 2005

Some people love them. Some people hate them. Most people don't understand them, yet many people use them anyway.

While this could describe cellphones, I'm actually talking about emoticons. Even this program thinks it's a misspelled word. Fortunately, there is plenty of information online to give you the background on these wacky characters.

Guess what? More people are on online now

October 30, 2005

The only real surprise in the latest Census Bureau report regarding the Internet is the fact that the information is probably already out of date. Then again, that's probably not even a surprise.

Excel can equal magic

November 9, 2002

I decided to take a break from talking about Web sites and Internet applications for at least one column. Amazingly enough, there are other programs on your computer or close by that can be beneficial. The one I plan to discuss today is more useful than a paperweight, although it may not be as helpful as a stapler or rubber band or the largest watergun museum on the Internet.

Living in cardboard maybe isn't so bad

January 2, 2005

Building a playhouse/fort out of a cardboard box used to be a chore enough. Now, Australian researchers and architects have created something that goes beyond that: a fully sized and usable cardboard house that can be completed in six hours by just two people.

Take a break, paint and dance!

July 12, 2007

It's late in the week. You are probably fretting even starting work today. Sounds to me like you need a little break. What I'm about to show you may mystify or confuse you. But remember, it's for your own good.

Time to visit ROXIK | PICTAPS. If you click on the "Paint!" button, you will have the ability to create an avatar that dances. Or, you can just watch some of the samples the site already has available. Regardless, make sure to turn up the music as load as possible.

Net neutrality nipped for now

May 1, 2006

Unfortunately, it appears that at least in the United States, there could be a tiered Internet in the near future, meaning companies with money will be able to have a better accessibility.

Be careful with the Wii

December 9, 2006

The new Wii gaming solution hasn't been out for very long, and it appears there are two sides of the coin at the moment. The first side is that people are having a blast making the actual motions needed in certain games. The flip side is that people apparently are breaking numerous appliances using the motion controls.
