Southwest recently announced that its acclaimed discount software, DING!, is available for the Mac. For those of you unfamiliar with the program, DING! supplies daily (sometimes, twice a day) offers for flights within the continential United States. Usually, the tickets are a small percentage cheaper than Southwest's normal prices; oftentimes, however, the DING! fares are a substantial discount to the regular fares.
The third printing of "The Developers" is now at Biblio Distribution, and will be ready shortly to send out to bookstores and libraries across the country. Over the next few months, I will continue to make marketing pushes in the region, as well as other places in the U.S., to promote my book. Today, March 14, is Pi Day. Well, according to the Wikipedia entry about it, March 14 is the unofficial celebration for Pi Day, because the date is 3/14. Other countries read dates a little bit differently but it seems appropriate due to other factors, listed by Wikipedia:

With the skyrocketing price of gasoline (the last I checked, it was cheaper to buy a new car that comes with a full tank of gas than to fill up my own car), many people are looking for transportation alternatives. While the teleport is still under construction (Seriously! I'm almost finished with it!), one thing that is available is a modification kit for your vehicle so you can run your car on vegetable oil.
Maybe you are one of those people who are completely terrified of computers, the Internet and lemon-flavored cough drops. If so, you probably are no where near being able to read this column, and if I had to guess, you are most likely hiding in a basement in Turkey. That is, if they have basements in Turkey. I'm not a big fan of sound on websites, but talking heads with sound? OK, now you have my attention. SitePal apparently delivers just that, with somewhat freakish characters that appear to be saying what is actually being said. As the site says, for as little as $9.95 a month, you can have a SitePal on YOUR very own site. It appears the company also makes custom Pals, as I found one for Santa Claus.
There are a few things necessary when starting out on a long hike, regardless of the weather. You need a good pair of shoes, possibly boots. You need something to drink, most likely water. And finally, you need a peanut butter and pickle sandwich. Even the folks at the New York Times realize this!
