Book review: "The Joy of Work" by Scott Adams

October 15, 2007

Dilbert has been one of the funniest comics for as long as I can remember. The reason, in my opinion, is that creator Scott Adams combines everyday work situations with unexpected conclusions, at least, in the eyes of a staunch businessperson. What it comes down to is that you can find humor in anything, especially those things where the people who are the most funny are the ones who either have no sense of humor or have no idea that anything humorous is even taking place.

Photoshop is not a verb!

October 9, 2007

I've photoshopped a few files in my time. What? I can't say that? Oh great. I've just used the term "Photoshop" illegally.

According to Adobe Systems Incorporated Terms of Use, there are specific ways to use Photoshop. No, not the actual program, but just the word for it. Yes Adobe, we understand that trademarks are important for corporations and the identity of products.

New book review scared me initially

October 6, 2007

I recently sent a few copies of "The Developers" to selected MySpace friends, in the hopes generating a little more feedback before attending Book Expo America back in June. Well, at least one of the individuals have weighed in, and the results were good, although I was worried as I initially started reading.

Book festival an OK experience

October 4, 2007

I'm really not sure what I expected at the Baltimore Book Festival ... more well-known authors, more freebies, a new car. Nevertheless, I did expect a little more. I learned, however, a few things to be prepared in greater detail for next year:

1. Check the schedule: I had seen a brief schedule, but I didn't bring it with me, nor did I attempt to obtain one at the festival. There were a handful of things, including a tour of the Peabody Library, that I wish I had attended.

Build and share your virtual bookshelf

October 3, 2007

You can learn a lot about people by finding out what types of books they like. In the past, that meant grilling them on what they had read, what they own, etc. Maybe they remember every book they have ever seen, but most likely, unless you come up with a title and/or author, they'll have no clue if you spout off about a book they love.

Obama wallpaper

November 8, 2008

The day after the election, I had a chance to check out all of the front pages from around the world. It was remarkable how many international newspapers had Obama as the top story, and as expected, a number of U.S. papers devoted their entire front pages to election coverage. I created an Obama collage of the papers as a tribute to our next president. Feel free to use as a screensaver or desktop image!

Cell phone services seem similar

January 6, 2003

I don't consider myself an expert in too many things,

at least outside of baseball history, state capitals

and having a tendency to attract strange females. But

after extensive research on determining the best cell

phone service, maybe I have found my calling.

HA! My

calling! Get it? Anyway, I figured the least I could

do with this newfound ability is to report

On the Street - the Dilemma of Thievery

June 14, 2008

As I was exiting the grocery store yesterday, I overheard a conversation between a woman and what I assumed was her teenage son. She was holding at least four candy bars in her hand.

Holiday sweaters, just in time for Christmas

December 23, 2007

If you aren't happy with the selection of holiday sweaters that you have seen this year in the stores, you have a few options. One would be to just wear the same ridiculously tacky one that you wore last year. The other idea would be to make your own at We Hate Sheep. We Love Holiday Sweaters.. Make sure you accessorize as much as you can because the holidays come only once a year! You can also choose to window shop and peruse all of the previously made gorgeous sweaters. I'm wearing mine right now!

Introducing Mrs. Annathena Gilly Gully

November 18, 2009
