European countries: stop using IE

Jan 19, 2010

When entire countries decide that your browser is a security risk, that's probably not good news for your company. That's the case with Microsoft and Internet Explorer, as French and German governments are recommending their people to use safer alternatives to IE.

In a statement, a Microsoft spokesman claims that IE 8 is the most secure browser out there, and so far, it has stood up to various browser tests. However, it's tough to believe that this will stand over the long haul, based on IE's ominous past. It's amazing to how many people still use IE 6, let alone the newest version. As a web developer, it's tough to ignore the sheer number of people using Internet Explorer, but I'll jump for joy as that number decreases over time.
