Here comes Spuds McDarth

Mar 2, 2005

I am big fan of toys, and "Star Wars," and "Star Wars" toys, but it appears Hasbro has stepped over the boundary with the release of Darth Tater. The toy is a Mr. Potato Head that somewhat resembles the evil villain Darth Vader. See for yourself on Hasbro's website.

The reason I mention "evil villain" is not to give specific reference to who Darth Vader is (if you didn't know, you probably don't want to read anymore, so click another link on the page), but to wonder how it's feasible to make a Mr. Potato Head character be evil. It could be possible, but this is not how you do it.

What if Hasbro wants to make Darth Vader look cute and cuddly, like a teddy bear or Jessica Simpson? That could be possible, but why would you want to do something like that? Will they come out with Jaws' plush animals and Freddy friendly dress-up sets next? There is good, there is evil and there is neither, like toothpaste. Hasbro has made a new classification with Darth Tater: The lovable bad guy, who would prefer not to slice menacing rebel fighters with his lightsaber, but rather, be bathed in a heaping spoonful of sour cream and butter.

Really, I'm just kidding. This is pretty funny actually.
