What is the largest waffle anyway?

Jul 7, 2004

In a previous column, I mentioned that I might try to make the world's largest waffle, and an observant reader wondered what the record actually was.

Of course, I had no idea, so I attempted to look it up. Here's what I found:

Apparently there is no record for the world's largest waffle, at least according to Guinness. So maybe I should try for the record after all! Upon further research, I found a site that claims the largest waffle was made in Chicago in 1986, and it measured 3,000 square feet. Maybe they were celebrating their Super Bowl championship. I'm not sure how believable the site is, though ... you can check it out here: http://taylor.250x.com/StrangeBut/StrangeButTrue62.html.

Man, I could go for a waffle right now ...
