Net neutrality nipped for now

May 1, 2006

Unfortunately, it appears that at least in the United States, there could be a tiered Internet in the near future, meaning companies with money will be able to have a better accessibility.

It's difficult to fathom, but members of the US House Energy and Commerce Committee voted against the net-neutrality amendment, 34-22. Why? Maybe it's because they don't understand the ramifications of extending power to Internet traffic companies like AT&T. But this serious issue needs to be understood better before it's too late.

MoveOn.org is still in the process of obtaining signatures for its petition to save the Internet. If you haven't signed it yet, click here to check it out.
