The Internet really isn't that heavy

Jul 16, 2005

Have you ever wondered how many people are on the Internet in a given day? Yeah, me neither.

Apparently, someone has, and not only that, the guy has a blog. Jason Striegel has put together a little piece called Weighing the Internet. He has determined that there are close to 500 million users on the Internet in a day, whereas the Nielsen/NetRatings reports have the values closer to 900 million.

Normally I would recommend looking over the stats and determining for yourself what you should believe, but I'm definitely not buying the Weighing the Internet stuff. The article is based on such a small amount of data that it doesn't appear it could possibly be close.

Besides, why would you weigh the Internet with the number of users? Shouldn't you use a scale or something?

Check out the latest book in the Caimans at Work series! The caimans’ new store is the talk of the town. But with success comes navigating the speed bumps along the way. Have no fear – Raymond and Damon are always up for the challenge, whether they are finding a recipe, picking the right color, just doing laundry or investigating a peculiar mystery at their favorite place - a party, of course!
