March 17, 2012

My first Corporate Ties book signing is in a somewhat strange place - Houston, Texas. I'll be at Brazos Bookstore at 3 pm on Sunday, April 1 - April Fools' Day!

Most people who know me realize I'm a huge college basketball fan. In order to celebrate the upcoming tournament, I've decided to have a "Corporate Ties" sale - $10 a book, free shipping! Just click the button below to order.

"Corporate Ties" featured on Business Insider

February 28, 2012

I don't completely agree with the old adage "any press is good press," but I will say that it is true about 99 percent of the time. Being featured on Business Insider, which is one of the most prominent tech news sites on the Internet, can never be a bad thing, right?

Future Web site looks to eliminate awful drivers

July 7, 2003

HONK!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?!?!? DON'T CUT IN FRONT OF ME YOU $#%#$@!!! HONK!!! HONK!!!

If this is you, and you also happen to find yourself saying these things often -- OK, every single time you drive more than 33 inches -- then you may be enthused to know I would like to do something about it.

Yes, soon there could be a way to get back at all of those people who pull up right on your bumper; who say using a turning signal is merely a fad; and who think the word "yield" means "go" and the word "merge" means "get outta my way."

Not everything in science makes sense

March 21, 2005

Your local (or not-so-local) scientist is currently busy trying to figure out many things, including cures to terminal illnesses, ways to make the environment safer and the reason why reality TV is so popular. But on top of that, there are numerous other things that have researchers scratching their heads, wondering basically why the universe doesn't collapse on itself and why aliens keep playing peekaboo.

You're not the only one behind on your work

April 3, 2005

If you're in the technology field, and you feel that every project that you work on is completed close to 38 years late, you are not alone.

Globeandmail.com reported that a market research firm Info-Tech Research Group says 95 percent of IT groups don't deliver their projects on time, at least not to the satisfaction of the client.

Find 'The Developers' at a library near you

January 9, 2007

I just recently found an interesting site that combines library listings from across the world. While it's not a comprehensive list of every single library, WorldCat promotes itself as having "Over 1 billion items in more than 10,000 libraries worldwide.

That's a lot of books!

The technique of technology

February 19, 2009

While I admit to being a little hesitant at reading such a grandiose PDF as presented from The technological society by Jacques Ellul, I found a bounty of words and phrases (some that I agreed with, some that I didn't) of which I made note. I'll try to make comments about as many as possible, although an entire Internet might not be enough room to give my thoughts about this text.
