I suspect anyone who is reading this already has a number of technology gadgets. I suppose this could be anything from a computer to a cell phone to an MyePet (quick survey ... does anyone really have a MyePet?). Anyone with a gadget knows that it doesn't always work right. However, according to a recent study by the Pew Internet & American Life Project, 15 percent of individuals never bothered repairing a piece of technology that broke within the past year.
This is startling, and I have a hard time believing that this number represents what was intended, which is items that were purchased within the last year. I suspect that if someone had a 15-year-old VCR that was now kaput, that registered as a device that will never be repaired. I could also see a handful of people having problems with a BlackBerry and having to trade it in for something else, which may also be tallied as never being fixed.
Otherwise, think of the amount of tech junk that could be filling up a landfill, or at the very least, houses all across the world. I hope people with MyePets have better success with their items than those in the survey.
