Website selling personal info ... but how much?

Aug 21, 2006

Is it possible to obtain someone's personal information online? There's a site that proclaims this is the case ... for a price.

As reported by Snopes.com, ZabaSearch.com will tell you everything the site can find regarding a particular person. Snopes coughed up $20 and received some personal information, but nothing that couldn't be found already through public records.

According to the site, ZabaSearch does not control any of the information. It's just a gathering site. While beneficial for some instances, there's no guarantee that the materials listed are even current. There is a form you can fill out to exclude your listing from the search. But at the same time, you will then be handing over information that you don't want listed ... which sounds a lot like going on an all-ice cream diet.

The good news is that ZabaSearch isn't a central database with personal information. The bad news is that you have to figure it could happen any day now.
