Houston, we have a book signing

March 17, 2012

My first Corporate Ties book signing is in a somewhat strange place - Houston, Texas. I'll be at Brazos Bookstore at 3 pm on Sunday, April 1 - April Fools' Day!

March Madness = sale!

March 4, 2012

Most people who know me realize I'm a huge college basketball fan. In order to celebrate the upcoming tournament, I've decided to have a "Corporate Ties" sale - $10 a book, free shipping! Just click the button below to order.

"Corporate Ties" featured on Business Insider

February 28, 2012

I don't completely agree with the old adage "any press is good press," but I will say that it is true about 99 percent of the time. Being featured on Business Insider, which is one of the most prominent tech news sites on the Internet, can never be a bad thing, right?

Tell Congress: Don't censor the Web

January 18, 2012

Let's join Google, Wikipedia and others in telling Congress not to censor the web! Fighting online piracy is important. The most effective way to shut down pirate websites is through targeted legislation that cuts off their funding. There's no need to make American social networks, blogs and search engines censor the Internet or undermine the existing laws that have enabled the Web to thrive, creating millions of U.S. jobs.

Author list now available

August 5, 2006

Authors who are either self-published or with small publishers have an extremely difficult time getting the word out about their novels. Most large publishing houses have money devoted to advertising, and well-known authors usually have their own publicists to handle marketing.

Stop looking for those lost license plates

January 3, 2006

How many different types of license plates are there in the world? I'm not sure, but if you are ready to do a hand count, you could start at License Plates of the World. You will find a ridiculous amount of license plates; not just current ones, but past plates as well. There are also ways to purchase some of the plates, if you happen to be the type of person who is missing that 1930s vintage Montana plate.

Peeps do not fare well when put to the test

April 24, 2006

Now that Easter has passed, it's safe to republish my Peeps column, circa. 1999 from the Crawfordsville Journal-Review.

Easter has come and gone like a gypsy caravan once again, but one thing still remains -- Easter candy. Checking expiration dates on bags and containers, 1999 Easter candy should last until 2450. People decide to buy candy following the holiday in hopes of big bargains.

A specific type of candy has intrigued many and plagued worldwide analysists with a simple question, "What is a Peep?"

Prediction for 2004: Think 2003

January 5, 2004

Is the new year really any different than the year that just passed?

The short answer is no. The long answer is yes. The longer answer is possible, but not probable, and the medium answer is, well, I think I forgot the question.

Back to the short answer, which if I recall, is NO! The year 2004 will be so much like 2003 that you will actually be able to use the same wall and desk calendars, if you haven't already thrown them away. Do not fret, however, because last year's calendars are today's clearance items at your local store.
